The 2018 Lights Fest Tampa Bay
This year’s Lights Fest Tampa takes place on Saturday, February 24th at the Little Everglades Ranch: one of many Lights Fest events that take place around the country throughout the year. (They’re held outside of the cities they’re associated with to comply with fire regulations.)
Live music and food ushers in the evening festivities, which culminate in the launching of the sky lanterns. Here’s how that works: A ticket to Lights Fest awards you a lantern, a marker, and a flashlight. You can personalize your lantern however you see fit: dedicating it to a loved one, perhaps, or penning a life goal or aspirational message or short little poem. However, you label your lantern, it’ll float aloft with all the others lit by Tiki torches in a dazzling spectacle of lofting illumination. Quite the unforgettable sight!
Lights Fest takes its responsibility to the environment and “Leave No Trace” commitment very seriously. The custom-made lanterns are biodegradable, so in the event that the sharp-eyed cleanup crew does happen to miss a few, they’re engineered to disintegrate in short order. The lanterns are non-flammable, too—obviously a good thing, right?
