Santa Fest & the Downtown Tampa Christmas Parade
Just because it’s not freezing cold and snow-covered here doesn’t mean Tampa can’t celebrate the yuletide season in style! Santa Fest and the 36th Annual Downtown Tampa Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1st serve as a case in point. The Christmas parade steps off at 11 AM at Morgan and Madison and wraps up at Ashley Drive and Cass Street, with prime viewing along Madison Street. From noon to 4 PM, meanwhile, Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park will turn into a holiday wonderland courtesy of Santa Fest, with loads of family-friendly games, hands-on crafts, and photo ops with the big man himself on tap.
Snow on 7th in Ybor City
Another magical holiday tradition awaits in Ybor City, just a hop, skip, and a jump from The Westshore Grand. The 8th Annual Snow on 7th Holiday Parade takes place from 6 to 9 PM on Saturday, December 8th, featuring performances by local children’s dance troupes and the Tampa Bay Pride Band, marching bands from across Hillsborough County, and a showstopper cameo from Mr. and Mrs. Claus—plus an enchanting “snowfall” over the proceedings!
The Victorian Christmas Stroll at the Henry B. Plant Museum
The Henry B. Plant Museum, occupying the 1891-built Tampa Bay Hotel building on the University of Tampa, will once again mark the yuletide stretch with its annual Victorian Christmas Stroll. For the occasion, the museum decks itself out in lavish seasonal decorations—including 40,000-odd lights and no shortage of Christmas trees—evocative of throwback holiday celebrations, features a slew of vintage ornaments and toys, and delights visitors with holiday music (including live evening performances) and complimentary cider and cookies.
